Purpose of Orientation

The best way to succeed in your course work at Diablo Valley College is to be informed about how the college operates and to have a strong foundation of basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. Orientation is designed to provide you with a wealth of information on Diablo Valley College policies, procedures, programs, and support services that will acclimate you to Diablo Valley College. Research has shown that students who participate in orientation before their first semester of college do far better than those who do not. Students who participate in the orientation process at DVC are more successful in achieving their educational objectives, and have a smoother transition into being a college student.

Synopses and instructions for Online Orientation

  • The orientation is composed of 6 modules, after completing all the modules you will need to correctly answer a few multiple choice questions to complete the orientation. If you answer the questions incorrectly you will be guided back to the module to review the information more thoroughly. Once you have completed all of the modules and answered each of the test questions correctly, you will be prompted to print out a results page that will serve as verification that you completed the online orientation. You will need this verification to proceed to the next steps in the matriculation process (assessment, if not already completed, and program planning/counseling).
