PRE SEASON UPDATE:  DVC Men's 2012 Water Polo team repeated for the fifth year in a row as Big 8 Conference Champions. When asked, what do you attribute to your success Coach John Roemer "replied maintaining priorities."  Coach Roemer went on to describe an environment where students can be successful. "I believe that if you create a successful environment by identifying goals, understanding expectations, defining steps to achieve those goals, and following through on your commitments to yourself and the team you can't help but be successful." Coach Roemer went on to say that many student/athletes contact him wanting to come here and play water polo. "I let them know right away what is expected, which goes far beyond playing water polo". For instance the idea of, "If you are not successful in the classroom you will never be successful in the pool."  DVC men's water polo is setting the bar high for its student/athletes.  This year the men's water polo team posted one of the highest GPA's for a team sport. Team Captain Ori Raz earned a full ride scholarship to Fordham University, Raz Yuval earned a scholarship to Gannon University, Roman Novak earned a scholarship to Whittier College, Petar Durakovic earned a scholarship to Notre Dame University, Jeremy Lewis was recruited to UCSD, Ryan Sevilla transferred to Chico, Jay Cater transferred to Long Beach St.  In the past five years DVC has had all its players except one who decided to work for the family business, transfer to four schools including, UCSD, UCSB, U.C. Davis,  CAL, Fordham, Gannon, Notre Dame, Hawaii, Whittier, Redlands, Pepperdine. Coach Roemer stated with much pride. "I believe that when young men leave here they are men of integrity and honor, they are just really good people that will do really good things."
