Swine Flu Information Update
I want to assure the campus community that we are carefully monitoring the swine flu situation in our county. The only confirmed cases of swine flu to this date have been in the city of Pittsburg, CA. No suspected cases have been found in the immediate DVC area. The State Chancellor's Office and the County are sending out info and strategies that we will continue to assess. If you would like to stay abreast with the latest information on swine flu in our county, you may contact the county's hotline at 1-888-959-9911 or visit the County Health Services website at www.cchealth.org/topics/h1n1.
We have created a webpage that we will be updating as new information becomes available. Please visit www.dvc.edu/news/h1n1flu for the latest information about any impact the flu outbreak may have on the Diablo Valley College campuses.
I am calling together members of my staff to determine what precautionary measures we should take. We will formulate a plan that will be put in place should we receive communication from the County Health Services that there is a confirmed case of Swine Flu within our campus community.
Finally, we are sending out a flyer for distribution to our students. This is also available on our webpage. I encourage faculty and staff to share this message with students in an effort to reduce any concerns they may have. We will continue to monitor the swine flu situation in our community and will continue to keep you updated with new information as it becomes available to us.
Hopefully, this information will reduce some of the fear and speculation that has been circulating. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
