EOPS Semester Eligibility Requirements

(for new students)

In order to be eligible for EOPS, new applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a California resident
  • Be enrolled full-time (12.0 or more units)*
  • Qualify to receive the Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGW)
  • Not have an Associate or Bachelor degree or more than 70 college units completed
  • Be educationally disadvantaged as determined by EOPS state guidelines

    *Foster youth and parent students may qualify with 9-11.9 units. Unit exceptions may also be made for students with disabilities who are enrolled in the Disability Support Services program.

 

In order to remain in good standing with EOPS, new EOPS students must:

  • Complete at least 67% of enrolled units and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.
  • Complete two scheduled EOPS counseling visits each semester in the Counseling Center (drop-in visits do NOT count).


Counseling appointments may be scheduled over the phone or in person with the EOPS/CARE Office or Counseling Center. Be sure when you are scheduling an appointment with the Counseling Center to identify yourself as an EOPS student.

NOTE: Counseling appointments may also be scheduled online through e-SARS. However, please be aware appointments with full-time EOPS counselors, Raine Dougan and Paula Stanfield, are not available online. If you would like to see either Raine or Paula, please schedule directly with the EOPS Office or Counseling Center.

  • Complete at least one drop-in peer advising visit each semester in the EOPS Office.
  • Complete mid-semester EOPS progress reports and return to an EOPS counselor for review.
  • Have a completed financial aid file to receive grants (must be updated each year).

    Note: To be eligible for a parent grant, you must be enrolled in 9.0 or more units at the time of disbursement.

 

(for continuing students)

Book voucher and study-time grant recipients must:

  • Enroll in 6.0 or more units each semester to be eligible to receive a book voucher. Exceptions may be made for students with disabilities.

  • Complete at least 67% of enrolled units and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.
  • Complete two scheduled EOPS counseling visits each semester in the Counseling Center (drop-in visits do NOT count).
