Information Technology and Services: resources overview

This document briefly describes the information technology resources at DVC. The target audience is newly hired faculty, staff and managers. The purpose of this document is to help DVC employees locate technology resources and gain access to them. It contains website addresses and contact people for the primary information technologies and services offered at DVC and provided for SRC staff and faculty.

The Staff Development Center is a key resource for faculty and staff to learn more about the common computer applications used at DVC: Outlook, Microsoft Office, File Management, Datatel, WebCT, Network access, Instructional Technology, etc. The center has an open lab of 2 Macs and 10 PCs with available network ports for laptops and a knowledgeable staff of trainers. It also has two scanners, a color and b/w laser printer, zip drives and CD burners. Please check our monthly calendar for workshops.

Instructional Technology: Working with DVC staff and faculty to develop web-based material, hybrid/online courses, and websites, Neal Skapura, Instructional Technology Coordinator also collaborates with the Staff Development Office to offer trainings and workshops year-round. Extensive services for faculty/staff are available.

Technology Purchasing: All technology purchasing is done through the Information Technology & Services office.

DVC Media Services: Faculty may request videotapes, DVDs, projectors, videotape players, and other audiovisual equipment and materials through Media Services. Requests require a 4-hour minimum advance notice for delivery to the classroom.
