This course is a multicultural and interdisciplinary examination of women's changing roles in U.S. society. The social institutions and values that shape those roles, including federal, state, and local governments, as well as the U.S. and California Constitutions will be explored. Significant events and developments that shape the social, political, and economic status of women, as well as the importance of race/ethnicity, class, region, and sexual orientation in differentiating the experiences and opportunities for women will also be presented.
