This course presents a multicultural history of the United States before 1865. Students will explore social, political, cultural and economic experiences and contributions of African American, Asian American, European American, Latino/a American, and Native American men and women in the development of United States society. The origins, nature, and impact of the U.S. Constitution on United States history before 1865 including the political philosophies of the framers, the operation of political institutions, and the rights and obligations of citizens will also be covered. C-ID HIST 130, CSU, UC (credit limits may apply to UC-see counselor)
