HORT-150V Introduction to Permaculture

  • 27 hours Lecture per term
  • Recommended: HORT 110 or equivalent
 
This class will provide an introduction to the principles and practices of Permaculture. Students will learn the history, the international applications and using applied learning techniques, will experience designing and installing a food forest. This will entail planning, planting and harvesting cover crops; establishing swales for deep water retention; designing water distribution systems; determining varietal planting and rotations; establishing food and work safety protocols and implementing responsible pest management techniques.
