FILM-281 Introduction to Film: World Cinema 1900-1960

This course is a survey of major trends in World Cinema from 1900 to the French New Wave of the 1960s. Students will view films from notable artists and movements that have influenced the development of film arts around the world. In addition, students will analyze how social, economic, and historical forces shape film art, the development of global media culture, and how cinema communicates as an art form.
